Our very first exhibition — Duet, which features oil paintings by Laurie Meyer and Marissa Vogl — will run from May 6 to May 20.
The exhibition explores the complementary nature of Laurie and Marissa’s work when paired side by side — Laurie’s work being representational and Marissa’s, abstract, but the subjects being the same.
“For Duet, Marissa and I have interpreted similar subjects singularly in our personal styles with the intention that when shown together, they will create a beautiful presentation,” says Laurie. She explains, “In musical composition, a duet provides two performers equal importance to the piece. Unlike harmony, their parts are not performed together. However, the strength of the music comes from one artist supporting the other.”
An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 6, from 5 to 8pm, coinciding with the Charleston Gallery Association Art Walk.
