Second Nature: New Works by Marissa Vogl

From October 6 to October 27, Meyer Vogl Gallery will host an exhibition of new oil paintings — both abstract and landscape — by Marissa Vogl. The exhibition, called Second Nature, gives viewers a glimpse into the creative process Vogl experiences in her studio when she paints in two different styles simultaneously.

“I really enjoy having two paintings going on at a time,” says Vogl. “On my right will be a landscape and on the left an abstract. The landscape will influence the abstract and the abstract the landscape.” For the show, the pairs of paintings will be hung side by side. Vogl goes on to explain, “The landscapes I’m creating for this show are the ‘spirit places’ I connect with. These days, it’s the marshes and the summer stormy skies in the south. The abstracts explore the energy of these places.”

An opening reception will be held on Friday, October 6, from 5 to 8pm, coinciding with the Charleston Gallery Association Art Walk.
