This workshop will explore the nuances of pigments and color mixing and the science behind color perception and application. Daily skills and exercises will enhance your understanding of how color can enhance your paintings. Improve mixing greens, often considered the most difficult land challenging hue in landscapes. Additionally, we will explore creating beautiful and believable light and shadow.
Cost:
$600 (a $300 deposit is due upon signing up. The balance can be paid during the workshop)

Painting with Gouache
November 8 and 9
So, you want to learn to paint? Yes, please! No prior experience is required for this 2-day course, which will provide you with the basics so you can paint joyfully on your own. In this workshop, we will learn about gouache paint. A hybrid between watercolor and acrylic, gouache is forgivable and painterly. We will also learn basic drawing skills and explore the fundamentals of color. You will need to bring a journal for writing, pencil and pen. All other supplies will be provided. We will take a short mid-day break for lunch; you may pack a lunch or find a bite nearby. Day 2 will be a pizza party. We will work hard while having a lot of fun.

Abstract from Life
December 5 and 6
We will explore the process of abstraction by observing from life, such as still life and landscapes. We will discuss how the basic fundamentals of art are important and elevate abstract painting. By identifying inspiration and intention, we will build abstraction up from a representational foundation, working towards layers of intuitive applications. We will learn to play and make discoveries that are unique to you. You will learn to identify and solve problems so that you can make appropriate changes. As a creative, my goal for you is to embrace curiosity and freedom and find joy in the process of creating. The more we create, the more creative we become.
(Basic drawing and painting skills preferred, with some color mixing knowledge)
When: December 5th and 6th (Fri. & Sat.),
