Connie Rigdon
Abstract Expressionist Bootcamp
September 19,20,21
In this fun, hands-on workshop, participants explore the core elements of abstract expressionism—line, shape, color, energy, and intuition—through a series of dynamic exercises. You'll begin with expressive mark-making and colorful shape creation, then transform your work into unique collages. Using blind contour drawing from real-life objects, you'll develop intentional lines and later carve out abstract forms with color. The workshop culminates in a large-scale piece that channels your personal thoughts, feelings, or experiences. Perfect for artists eager to embrace abstraction and deepen their creative expression.

Abstraction From Nature
October 11 - 14
This 4-day class in Daniel Island, SC covers the fundamental tenets of design in art. It’s not specifically a non-objective (pure abstract) class, you get to decide the level of abstraction you wish to explore. This is a learn-how-to-think class where you receive a process that you can use to explore new ideas. It’s a crash course on finding authenticity in your work. We cover the seven tenets of creative expression and the language of art. Larry’s intent is to help each artist find a way that works that is unique to them, whether they wish to interpret from life, push their process, or go fully abstract.
Larry is versatile in all mediums, having worked extensively in pastel, acrylic, oil, gouache and mixed-media. Work in the medium you are most comfortable with. This is not a class for beginners; participants need to have some experience with drawing, color, and painting. Expressive Portraits
October 24,25,26
In over 25 years as a professional artist, Richard has completed over 500 oil portraits, 1000 charcoal portraits, sold many gallery paintings, been part of a number of shows, and won a number of awards, mostly from the Portrait Society of America and the Oil Painters of America, both of which organizations he is a signature member.
In this workshop Rich will be focusing on painting the head with good drawing and strong natural color. The workshop is open to all ages and skill level, and all media. Rich will be using oils.
Rich breaks painting down into seven steps: inspiration, composition, drawing, value, color, paint application and edges, and calling it done.
Day 1: Starting with introductions, a lecture on his materials and approach, light and shadow, and on color. He will do a demo and then the class will set up and begin painting.
Days 2 and 3 will also start with a demo and then artists will paint afterwards.
Throughout the time that artists are working on their own pieces there will be number of class reviews along the way; mostly just putting the work up and having each artist say 'how it's going’.
Rich often keeps painting if the class would like, as he is interested in demonstrating and participating in the "process" of painting
