BETWEEN TIME: Anne Darby Parker Solo Exhibition
May 23, 6-8pm (one night only)
80 Ashley Ave.
We are thrilled to announce a one-night-only solo exhibition for Charleston-based artist Anne Darby Parker, hosted in an abandoned gas station with nearly a century of history. 80 Ashley is the former Century Service Station, now owned by Historic Charleston Foundation as part of its work to preserve historic buildings.
Says Parker about the exhibition:
"Between Time was cultivated from a decision to reuse old frames and became a journey of experimentation. Using new tools, transcription, and hand-mixing earth pigments into oil paints happened alongside a season of personal growth. I discovered freedom and possibility when the combination of these changes shifted and grew with each painting. The journey led to this historical gas station ripe with earth colors, texture, and open to the sky. It was a welcome experience for me to explore the conversation between the venue and the paintings as the installation and the art spoke to each other. For me, these paintings express the freedom to be authentic within the boundaries of the original."
