We're thrilled to welcome Macon, Georgia-based artist Kathleen Jones to Charleston for her first solo exhibition at the gallery. “This collection was an exploration of relationships," says Jones. "I have always loved working with realism and abstraction, but in the past it was always one or the other. This time I wanted to push myself to work in both styles simultaneously, creating pairs of paintings that work both together and on their own."

"I loved exploring the idea of each piece in the collection having either a realistic or abstract counterpart and the relationship formed between the two. I also wanted to explore the complexities of human experience and the way you can feel both grounded in reality and lost in your feelings all at the same time. The pairing of realism and abstraction hints at the dichotomy of what is real versus what we feel.”
