Hold on Tight: Marissa Vogl Solo Exhibition
Hold on Tight: Marissa Vogl Solo Exhibition
March 7 - 28
Opening celebration: Friday, March 7, 5 - 8pm
We can't think of a better way to kick off our 2025 exhibition schedule than with a solo show for our very own Marissa Vogl. Vogl's childhood was spent in rural Montana, connecting with nature in all the ways children do. After more than a decade in Charleston, Vogl has returned to her country roots: Her gorgeous new home and studio in Meggett, South Carolina overlooks a vast, Lowcountry marsh. The work coming out of her new studio is brimming with inspiration, and many of her painting tools come directly from nature, such as palm fronds, pine needles, and twigs.
"For this show, I wanted to connect with my natural surroundings, Mother Earth," says Vogl. "On my walks, I kept running into really beautiful elements, and on a whim one day I thought to myself, 'What different, unique materials that I can use to apply paint'. These have become some of my favorite painting tools for this series; pine needles, a stubby palm frond, grasses."
